Norm Buske, Director and Founder: Norm has advanced degrees in physics and oceanography. He has conducted non-government, in-field, radiological investigations of American and foreign nuclear weapons facilities since 1983, independently, for Greenpeace, for the Government Accountability Project, and for others. In 1999 he was awarded a unique agreement for access to the Hanford site to conduct independent radiological studies.

Norm conducts all in-field scientific investigations at TRAC and runs TRAC’s in-house spectrometer laboratory. His forte is acquiring crucial data of radiological concern from public lands and waters and then bringing the implications to public attention through mainstream media, 35mm slide shows, and public meetings and hearings.

Moon Callison, Outreach Coordinator: Moon holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from The Evergreen State College. She has six years experience developing community outreach materials for public-interest organizations. For three years, she produced radio and television shows for America’s Defense Monitor in Washington DC. Moon produced 11 videos with supplemental print outreach material, which aired on national PBS and public television stations.

Moon was hired as TRAC’s outreach coordinator in February 2002 to develop TRAC’s outreach program. As part of TRAC’s outreach efforts, Callison arranges collaborations with other groups to develop and distribute outreach products that educate the concerned public around nuclear facilities. She designs, develops, produces, and distributes TRAC’s outreach packages. Moon is TRAC’s webmaster and administrator.

Volunteers

Cecelia Callison: Cecelia holds a Master's Degree in Public Administration from The Evergreen State College. She is a Program Manager for the State of Washington, Division of Child Care and Early Learning, and implements statewide child care services and programs. Cecelia has authored program guidebooks, a system replication manual, and several white papers on statewide child care issues. She was instrumental in the creation of BrainNet, a resource that provides brain research information to parents, care givers, employers, and policy makers, to promote optimal brain development in children. Cecelia is interested in issues related to early child hood development, socio-economic justice for low income families and rural communities, and sustainable environmental projects.

Cecelia’s focus on environmental concerns and resource protection led her to volunteer for The RadioActivist Campaign. She narrates TRAC’s outreach videos and assists its public awareness and promotional programs.

Linda Josephson: Linda Josephson worked with TRAC, through its predecessor organization SEARCH, from 1983 through 1992, when she was responsible for the initial and ongoing operation of the gamma-spectroscopy lab. She developed software to implement expanded analytical capabilities of the equipment. Linda also worked as Assistant Field Scientist for SEARCH sampling studies at the Hanford Nuclear Reservation, Savannah River Site, and Bremerton Naval Facility.

Linda now works as Senior Forecast and Demand Analyst for Telect, Inc, a telecommunications manufacturer, in Liberty Lake, Washington. She volunteers part-time with TRAC as an occasional advisor, reviewer, and field study volunteer. She enjoys the outdoors--gardening and hiking--home remodeling projects, reading, and the arts.

Orion Buske: Orion Buske is a Senior at North Central High School in Spokane, Washington. He has earned five academic letters for scholastic achievement and maintains a 4.0 grade-point average in his largely honors and AP classes. Orion has also participated in JV Soccer, Varsity Track and Field, a city fencing club, and went to state with the Varsity Chess team. He especially enjoys virtual strategy games, alternative rock, and is a talented artist. Orion plans to study engineering at Cornell University, the University of Portland, or the University of Washington. He volunteered for Habitat for Humanity "Blitz Build" programs in 2002, 2003, and 2004, and the City of Spokane's Teen Advisory Council. As a TRAC volunteer, Orion has participated in river-based radiological surveys of the Hanford nuclear facility and reviews of outreach material.
